History

Wood and Craftsmanship as the Foundation

In 1866, Franz Paul Hamberger founded a small sawmill on the Ziegelberg near Rosenheim and began the industrial production of matches and clay bricks.

The subsequent milestones in the company’s history were also linked to the innovative processing of wood. In 1912, a thriving business developed around the manufacture of toilet seats. The founding of our toilet seat factory was the result of a fortunate coincidence. After missing a train, Anton Moralt from Bad Tölz offered his toilet seat factory for sale not to a company in Brannenburg, but to Franz Paul II and Max Hamberger. The production of wooden toilet seats was a perfect fit for the expertise and capabilities of our family business. That is why the sale of the company was sealed with a handshake at the very first meeting. After relocating the entire production facility to Rosenheim, production of toilet seats began that same year.

The further expansion of our company took place in typical Hamberger fashion: consistently, with foresight, and innovatively. After World War I, we continued to expand our product portfolio. A steady stream of new models soon covered the entire spectrum of demand.
